"Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC)," also known as size-exclusion chromatography (SEC), is a powerful analytical technique used predominantly for the separation and characterization of polymers and macromolecules. The fundamental principle is that molecules are separated based on their **hydrodynamic volume** (their effective size in solution), rather than their chemical composition, charge, or polarity.
